Fly Hadith

If a fly falls into one of your (food) bowls, sink it well. Because there is sickness in one wing and healing in the other. It is protected by its wing, which has a disease in it.

Prophet Mohammed (pbuh)

When I first heard this hadith, to be honest, it sounded ridiculous to me. I thought it was one of the fabricated hadiths. After searching the Internet, I realized that this hadith, which was not the case at all, was a miracle in itself. Yes, a filthy creature like a fly will fall into my food and I will grab it and immerse it even further. It's sickening to even think about. But in reality doing this completely disinfects the food. A creature that constantly lives in filthy environments like a fly has a defense mechanism assigned to it by Almighty Allah. His body is completely covered with powerful antibiotics that have an antibacterial effect.

Recent scientific research confirms this blessing that our Prophet had said 1400 years ago:

"In traditional medical practice, some fly larvae have been used to treat maggots, i.e. to help antiseptic cleansing of lesions. This method of treatment remains appropriate for situations where antibiotics are ineffective and surgery is impossible." 1https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2980178/

“The antibiotic material is removed by drowning the flies in ethanol, then passing the mixture through a filter to obtain the raw extract. When this was placed in a solution with various bacteria, including Coli, Golden Staph, Candida (a yeast), and a common hospital pathogen, the antibiotic effect was observed each time.” 2http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2002/10/01/689400.htm

Anbiotic effect of the fly"Fly effect: Russian scientists are inventing new drugs with the help of flies. Scientists in St. Petersburg have discovered that one of the strongest therapeutic effects is produced by some fly maggots. Sergey Chernysh, Head of Research, said: 'During the battles with Napoleon, soldiers who remained on the battlefields were found to have died of blood poisoning, except for those with maggots in their wounds. They recovered because maggots were eating dead tissue and feeding the wound with some antibiotics that facilitated rapid healing. Renowned Russian surgeon Pirogov used maggots during the Crimean War. They saved thousands of lives during World War I."3https://english.pravda.ru/science/9535-fly/

“The larvae of the green meat fly (Lucilia sericata) produce an antibacterial secretion that has a therapeutic effect on chronic and non-healing wounds. Recent advances in insect biotechnology have made it possible to use these larvae as a new source of anti-infectives.” 4https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4394815/

“Here we report the purification and characterization of a novel checropin-like peptide with both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities from the salivary glands of the black fly.” 5https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4620007/

"Biotechnologists have developed a method to remove active components from the oil of black soldier fly larvae. These compounds have unique antimicrobial properties and can destroy bacteria that cause farm crop diseases and are resistant to antibiotics." 6https://phys.org/news/2020-10-larvae-antibiotics-pathogens.html

Fly HadithIn fact, another scientific research word confirms this miracle. "The antibiotic found on the left wing of the house fly can destroy its own bacteria. The left wing of the fly can be used as an alternative treatment for Choi Basili diseases. And this antidote on the fly's wing can replace synthetic drugs."7https://prezi.com/54iy0nh216hy/antibiotic-on-the-left-wing-of-the-house-fly-can-kill-its-own-bacteria/

"The external surface components, wings, internal organs, and whole body extract of M. domestica can all contribute antimicrobial potential due to bioactive compounds they produce."8https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9822767/

It has been established that house flies are carriers of dangerous pathogens of animals and humans. Even the critics of this hadith have to admit that no one at the time of the Prophet knew that flies carried such harmful organisms. Where does the observation “there is a disease in one of its wings” come from?

Second, in terms of logic, if the fly didn't carry some kind of protection in the form of an antidote or immunity, it would have disappeared from its own toxic load and no flies would remain in the world.

Only this hadith-i-sharif is able to prove the existence of the almighty God and that Muhammad is his messenger. Surely there will be those who do not believe, that our Lord has sent down this verse:

Even if all the signs (miracles) have come to them (they do not believe) until they see the painful torment.

(Yunus 97. Verse)
