And We brought the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh with his hosts pursued them in rebellion and transgression, till, when the (fate of) drowning overtook him, he exclaimed: I believe that there is no God save Him in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of those who surrender (unto Him).
(It was said to him): "Ah now!- But a little while before, wast thou in rebellion!- and thou didst mischief (and violence)!
But this day We save thee in thy body that thou mayest be a portent for those after thee. Lo! most of mankind are heedless of Our portents.
(Yunus 90-92 Verses)
Pharaoh, who denies the prophethood of Moses, died more than 3,000 years ago. 1,500 years after Pharaoh's death, the Holy Qur'an predicted that pharaoh's body had been saved. In the 19th century, when pharaoh's mummy was discovered, the Qur'an prophecy took place.
Prof. Dr. Maurice Bucaille was born in France in 1920 and grew up as a Christian like his family. After his secondary education, he attended the Faculty of Medicine of the University of France. Later, he became the most famous surgeon in modern France, but an incident completely changed his life.
Merneptah's mummy was discovered in 1898 at the tomb of Amenhotep II along with eighteen other mummies. Originally believed to have been buried in the Valley of the Kings The mummy was opened and identified by Dr. G. Elliott Smith in Cairo on July 8, 1907.
In 1975, Dr. Maurice Bucaille was allowed to examine the mummies' bodies. II. Ramesses and Merneptah's first medical examinations (1974-1975) were conducted by a team of ten doctors and dentists in Egypt. They made some discoveries that shed light on various old questions about Pharaoh Merneptah.
Forensic evidence was given by French surgeon and archaeologist Dr Maurice Bucaille, who gave the coroner's report that Merneptah died of asphyxiation. Merneptah's body carries traces of fatal blows. At the time, he had no knowledge of Islam, the Qur'an and his prophecies. When he learned that this was the prophecy of the Quran, he learned Arabic to read and understand the Quran itself. Eventually, he converted to Islam. After that, he made a start by trying to reciliation proven scientific facts with religious axiomas. As a result of these studies, he wrote the famous book "Quran, Bible and Science" in 1976, which caused a sensation in high academic circles – especially in the Christian world.
"Man's protection of the documents of his own history is always wishful, but there is more to this: this document is the witness of the prophet who knew Moses, in a embalmed body. He is the witness of the one who resists the will of Moses, the one who chases him while he flees, and who gave his life in this matter. He is a witness to whose body has been saved from extinction by the will of Allah and has become a "sign for man" as written in the Qur'an. In the contributions of contemporary discoveries, a brilliant proof of the Quran verses about the pharaoh's body are displayed in the King's Mummies Hall of the Egyptian museum in Cairo for those who investigate evidence of the veracity of the Scriptures!"
Prof. Dr. Maurice Bucaille
